Residents were recently invited by the Parish Council to nominate their “Hampton Hero” — individuals or groups who have made a meaningful and positive impact on the local community. Nominations celebrated a wide range of contributions, from dedicated volunteers and supportive neighbours to young people making a difference and individuals whose kindness and commitment have enriched local life.
The Council received a number of nominations for the Unsung Heroes Award, each highlighting inspiring efforts across the community. Following careful consideration, three recipients were selected in recognition of their exceptional dedication.
Julia Bottomley was honoured for their long-standing role in managing a local community café. Their contribution goes far beyond running a valued local service; they have created a welcoming and inclusive space that offers support to those in need. The café has provided not only food but also a listening ear and guidance for many residents. It has also played a vital role in supporting a wide range of volunteers, including those gaining work experience, individuals returning to employment, and people with more complex needs seeking to build confidence and independence.
Nathan Minter was recognised for his commitment to maintaining and enhancing the local environment. His efforts include keeping community spaces clean and contributing to the development of wildlife habitats, reflecting a strong dedication to both the local area and its natural surroundings.
Helen Trotman received an award for her leadership and dedication within a local youth organisation. Through coordinating groups, supporting volunteers, and ensuring the safe and effective delivery of activities, she has created valuable opportunities for young people over many years. Her work has also helped to foster a supportive and collaborative community network.
Each of the award recipients was presented with an Unsung Hero certificate alongside a £25 Amazon gift voucher. The Parish Council extended its sincere thanks to all those recognised, commending their hard work, dedication, and the positive difference they continue to make within the community.
